I just want to apologize for the execution of the Halo 2 competition. I didn't get any complaints directed to me nor did I overhear any, but I personally felt it wasn't as fair as it could have been for everyone. I did what I could given the time and situation though. I hope everyone still had fun with it.

Starting late couldn't be avoided at the time due to technical difficulties with Half-Life 2 (and some ignorance on the network setup for the consoles for Halo 2).

Several people had signed up for the competition and then dropped out without marking through their name (10 of them actually) and I didn't think to do a quick roll call before coming up with the new competition structure (ie, the group single elimination brackets). With 26 people competing instead of 35 I could have made a structure that gave people a bit more of a chance at the top three, but I'd already made the structure for 35 and decided to go ahead with that in the interest of getting some Halo started for everyone.

So anyway, about Halo 2:
I'm sorry that it started over an hour late.
I'm sorry about the structure changing.
And I'm sorry if the rules were confusing or unfair to anyone.

And for those who are interested (for whatever reason) but don't know what happened:
We only had rules set up for Halo 2 for up to 16 people. 35 people signed up. Nine of those people dropped without warning. One of the XBoxes wasn't networked properly. That same XBox was setup late.

The original rules: Everyone in one deathmatch (battle rifle start), random maps for 25 kills each, score is cumalative kills after an hour. Top 3 scores get prizes.

The modified rules: Eight random people per server, one map for 25 kills, top four advanced to the next bracket. Repeat as if single elimination with four moving on each time. Top three in the last round get prizes.

Either way, I hope everyone still had fun, and congratulations to the winners: WarriorNoMercy, Icehouse, and Beck (1st, 2nd, 3rd respectively).
