Everyone install the Steam version of Half Life 1 before you get there. Some of us are going to attempt to beat the "unbeatable" Action Half Life 5am map (ahl_5am version 3.0). Map and Mod will be available on site.
For those who do not know the Action Half Life (hence force AHL) mapping community were a clever bunch. Many would build secrets into their maps. Typically they were just shortcuts, but some would build elaborate mazes and puzzles into the maps. Of these mappers a man named Hondo is the most revered. Many consider his magnum opus to be the 5am map. It features a hotel and car park area, but under the world there is another far more diabolical. Once you open the doorway you land on a clock and there are 12 challenges (or so we believe) that you have to complete.
This is best explained by Rock, Paper, Shotgun's own Quintin Smith:
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/03 ... the-5-a-m/
It should be noted that while getting past the first seven hours are considered impossible by many, it is noted that people have gotten to 10 oclock. Several have written guides to that far. Xen and myself can get to the eight hour by ourselves fairly easily. So hopefully we will be able to finish this.
Fairwarning this will stress your thoughts of how good you are at games and puzzles. It is simply diabolical. |

I must point out that I've seen guides for the full completion, but I did avoid reading them. |

Ive never seen a guide go past 12 oclock. You get to the pool of water and no one has stated what to do past that. I take that back, you get to 5 through 12, I have never heard of anyone even seeing 9. And I scoured the internet fairly well on this one.
And yeah, we will give it a go at Tigerlan. |

We got as far as is documented. I have no idea how to go on from there, and xen and I painted a good chunk of the world. I still do not believe that is the end, since all of his other maps actually have endings. Granted he could have made it this way so you never known, in game atleast, that it is completed. A "screw you world" from a puzzle map maker.
Ohwell, it was fun. |

I'll throw my hat into the ring, I'll try it out.
Will the person who gets furthest win temporary fame and glory among AUgamers?
Edit: Didn't see that this was from 2 TLs ago. |

Hey, I was there for that! I think I jumped in late, but if we give it a go this time I'm definitely in. That was fun. |
