The PM button in the forums isn't working correctly for the time being. In order to send a message, you'll have to use the "My Messages" link in the left menu. We'll let you know when this hitch is fixed.

Website: Site Maintenance Mostly Complete - Site Active Again

The website is back up from its maintenance. Some fairly massive upgrades took place. There are still a few bugs in some of the links that we know about and those will be taken care of over the course of the upcoming week. The new look of the site is not permanent either, it will be getting a few tweaks soon starting with the column widths so that you can actually read the forums.

If there are any issues that are preventing you from using a feature, then either message jokeyxero or start a topic here.

Website: Website Outage

The AUGamers website was down yesterday due to a DNS glitch at the hosting provider. Then when it came back up, some may have noticed that all updates since 28 Sept were missing. That was due to a server migration issue. Everything is back up and running now and should be current as of the time it went down due to the DNS glitch (early morning 15 Oct). Sorry for the interruption, especially so close to TigerLAN.

Website: Server Upgrades

The web server will be down for upgrades for about an hour on 14 June 2007 starting at 23:00 CDT.

The web site will be unavailable during this time period, but should be back up and running right afterwards.

Articles: Club Founder, Ryan "Stick" Stich, Passed Away

The Auburn University Computer Gaming Club was recently informed about the death of its founder and first President. Ryan "Stick" Stich was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident approximately two weeks ago. His fiancee has offered all of Stick's gaming items to the club as it is what he would want. AUCGC has no firm plans on what to do with the equipment and games but suggestions have included keeping some of it for club, giving some away for TigerLAN prizes, and donating some to charities or educational groups, all of which are intended to improve gaming in the community.

Stick left behind a legacy of creative gaming and promotion of gaming in the community. He and a handful of others started the club in late 1996, the first official meeting was in 1997 and the club received a permanent charter from Auburn University in 1999. This not only makes the AUCGC the oldest university-sponsored computer gaming club in the country but also makes Ryan Stich a pioneer in the push to create a stable gaming community.

AUCGC has not yet determined exactly how it will memorialize him, but there will be something permanent. Talk has begun about creating a tournament at all future TigerLANs with Stick-style rules but the details are in flux. To make suggestions please see the forums ( www.augamers.org ); there is a topic under Official Announcements titled "RIP Stick."

Our thoughts are with his family, fiancee, and friends in these tough times. If anyone wishes to contact them for any reason then please contact an AUCGC officer (Ack, Gouji, Coyote, LordByron, xero) so that they are not bombarded with random contacts. Thank you.

Stick, you will be missed sorely and we will try to continue your legacy of fun and creativity.

Articles: AUCGC Organization Picnic

We are gathering interest for a organizational picnic to occur in the upcoming weeks. Read below for info:

xero wrote:

I'd like to have an organization picnic soon into the summer semester.

Dates could be 19 May (first Friday), 26 May (Friday before Memorial Day), or whenever.

Club could buy a few pizzas and drinks and members could bring other random food, standard picnic style stuff. (All of this would of course be eaten outside the lab...)

However, there are no chairs outside the lab and it's a small space and a bit sterile, so it's possible to have it somewhere else and at a different time.

Anyway, time and place don't matter.

The point is to get the members, the advisor, the admins, and any alumni that can make it together for a social event. That means you Roy, Paul, Mike, Bandit, T-BirD, Vector, Stick, X, Speed, etc. :P

Reply on the forums (and vote for an option) and let's discuss interest and options for time and place.

Articles: Fall Semester 2005 Parking at Auburn University

Parking on the AU Campus during football season on Fridays will be different from the rest of the year. In short, if you park wrong after 10:00 PM, you get towed and ticketed.

The AU policy:

http://www.auburn.edu/communications_marketing/gameday05/studentparking.html

The Summation:

Everything except Comer Hall, Facilities Division, Intramural Park, and the CDV will be closed. When asked specifically we were told that the parking lots surrounding Lowder will not be towed or ticketed. Those are the closest to Haley Center and are accessed via Donahue Dr. (to Dormitory Drive).

The Extras:

The Wilson parking lots in downtown Auburn are open to the public after 5:00 PM. This includes: behind TigerRags, Compass Bank lot, spots on College St. and Magnolia Ave., downtown Parking Deck area, and all the spots on the Wright Street.

Website: Forums Should Be Back Up Soon

After harrassing the developers of PNphpBB2 for the last week I've been told that "baring something unexpected happening, [PNphpBB2 v1.2g for PostNuke 0.75] should be out by [25 Sept 2004]."

This translates into the forums being back up by Sunday (hopefully).

Articles: Classes Cancelled Due to Ivan

Auburn University has cancelled classes for the rest of the week (09-15-2004 to 09-17-2004) due to the threat of hurricane Ivan. It truly is Ivan the Terrible and Ivan the Great rolled into one giant storm.

Weather and admin permitting we will still meet this Friday for our regular Gamers' club meeting. Keep an eye out for an edit on this news post to tell if we are to meet this Friday.

EDIT: No Gamers' meeting this Friday and no image work today.
