Greetings noobs!
I would like to enquire as to the nature of the prizes for the TigerLAN tournaments. Can we expect more garbage collected from the dumpsters behind EB Games or something worthwhile? |

| They're worthwhile. We've got some games, mp3 player, cases, ipod extras, video card, memory, plus the usual figures, t-shirts, and swag. |

| So we're not gonna be seeing stickers, empty preview boxes, used condoms, and other refuse? |

| Let's consider the used condom discussion ended. I'll look up what those product brands are when I get a chance later. |

And for those greedy people who must get something other than fun out of coming to a LAN party, here's a brief list of some of those good prizes I mentioned:
NZXT Gaurdian Case
XMan 11-Bay ATX Window Case w/480W
iriver iFP-190 256MB USB MP3/FM Tuner/Voice Recorder
Sound Pod Portable Audio System for iPod
Burnout: Revenge
Sonic Battle
Area 51
some more games, and some various figures (e.g., gundam, lotr, mk), a video card, a flash memory card, case fans, usb accessories, collectables, modding gear, bunch of t-shirts, posters, stickers, food, drinks, AOE3 demos and games (if they ever come in), general swag, etc etc etc. (I'd be more specific but I don't care enough to go fishing through all those boxes of prizes to itemize them all here).
-------------------------------------------
I still personally maintain that a LAN party is not about the prizes or proving you're the best person there in something but about having fun playing games with others. Greedy egocentric bastages. ;oP |

I know I said this discussion had ended but I just noticed that technically "flavored" is not an answer for "ribbed or smooth?" But let's consider that ended again. |

On the note of what prizes go with what competition:
I'm sure I've posted this before, I know I've said it enough...
Prizes for each competition will be determined at the start of the competition because it is a function of how many participants there are. For example, we're not giving away a computer case to a competition with only three people in it when there's one with 30 people in it coming up.
They are decided before the competition (before it starts generally) instead of after so that the prize packages will not become biased toward friends, etc. If you're unhappy with your prizes you can always swap with others or ask to swap for something else, which you may or may not get, though equivalent trade tends to work.
There are certain prizes that are reserved for certain competitions. For example, the winners of an XBox competition get an XBox game, Gamecube goes with Gamecube, PS2 goes with PS2, etc. We try to get PC games to give to PC game winners, but it doesn't always work out that way. We try to balance out the prizes to the number of competitors. So if you think you're going to win and want a better prize it helps you to persuade more people to compete.
And for those that just really want to be picky, only the $5 for the competitions technically goes toward prizes. The value of the collective prizes tend to be well beyond what we net from those donations (thank you sponsors). All of the money that is donated at TigerLAN will go back into the next TigerLAN. TigerLAN/AU Computer Gaming Club are not in a position to use credit so there is no way it can go directly into the exact event that gathers the donations, therefore we can't spend with projection, only with past performance. If you want the next one to be better then you make the current one as good as possible. Just technicalities. But talking about those is not fun and not in the spirit of the club, therefore we'll leave that to the club officers to discuss privately. If you just really want a say then become an officer or become more active in the AUCGC, it is a democracy in here. =O) |
