If all falls into place as planned, we are going to start King of the Net back up, the rules are based largely on Sticks rules for the fall 2004 semester with a few slight changes. Note that these are still a rough draft, and if you see a problem, or if you have any suggestions feel free to post them here, or email me at girtunaking@gmail.com
Important Note:You MUST be a paying member of AUCGC to participate.

So here are the basics of the competition, every other week there will be a planned game that effects the ladders. The King of the Net is the person leads the ladders at the end of the semester. The king will receive some form of prize, not sure what it will be yet, but it will be something interesting, tasty, or awesome…so yeah we have no idea at this point, but this will be remedied ASAP. Also there maybe be prizes for the weekly winner, but that also is not something I can promise yet. Regardless of the prizes the whole thing should be fun. In addition to this the king will get to choose the king’s game (details below)

THE KING'S GAME:
On the off weeks, when there is no organized KOTN game, the reigning King will get to lead the gamers for around 30 minutes. This may mean a quick competition (that doesn't count towards KOTN), introducing a new game, or playing one of our regular games in the flavor they choose. Its suggested that this 30 minutes be insanely fun. There may be silly prizes for the winner, or not, up to the KING! As we do not have a King from last semester this privilege will be given to the current leader of the ladder.

CHALLENGES:
Outside of the biweekly organized games, individuals are encouraged to battle each other for ladder position. Any format is acceptable, as long as all participants have agreed ahead of time (this includes 1on1 matchups or huge FFAs). Refer to the individual game threads for restrictions and details on reporting.
There are two broad restrictions:
1.
Players may not challenge anyone ranked more than 4 places below them. So the lowest ranked player for a game may challenge anyone, while the top ranked player can only challenge the 2nd 3rd and 4th ranked players.
2.
Unless the format doesn't allow it, anyone unranked, ranked between the highest and lowest ranking player must be allowed to join the game. Players ranked less than 4 rungs above the highest ranking player may only join on permission (it's ok to "cap" a game at a certain ladder level - this allows for intermediate or newbie-level games). For example, if a 2v2 game is arranged and the players set, they don't have to include anyone else, but if a FFA game is set up by the 3rd, 4th, and 7th place players, they should allow anyone ranked below the highest ranking player involved to join if they desire to do so.
All challenge scores should be sent to me at girtunaking@gmail.com so I can apply them to the ladders.

PRIZES:
TBA

LADDERS:
For details on an individual game's ladder, see the corresponding thread in this forum.(to be added when games and rules are decided) However, in general, the scores determining ladder position will be mostly symmetrical around zero. That way, people entering the ladder after it has started will start somewhere just a little lower than the middle. This is to encourage new players to join, and also give the lower ranked players fresh meat to beat up on, and hence the bottom half of the ladder some mobility.

The 1st weeks prize is currently a $5 gift card to Mellow Mushroom.

Sorry yall ... but until we get more interest or show positive numbers involved in the KOTN games, I will not be acquiring the Fabled BK Crowns.
