Yeah, made the mistake of buying an iPod when I'm running Windows ME. What's needed to run it is Windows 200 and XP, anyone know a way around this problem? |

try
http://www.mlipod.com/
There are a few others too, as well as some linux solutions.
I think the iPod updater doesn't work with anything but 2k or xp though, so I guess you will have to use one of the computers at the uni lab for that or something. |

Thats the only thing I can think of aswell.
Although you could try using it as a usb harddrive and transfer the files to the proper area, or have they "fixed" that in the newer versions? |

And I don't think directly copying files works. I checked the file structure of the mp3s on my iPod and they seem to be randomly named directories and files
Oh yeah, you can install linux on your iPod too. Then you CAN play files of all sorts (ogg, wav, flac, mp3, mpeg, etc) all with a sensible directory structure. And you can play Doom as well (btw, you can set up the iPod to be able to boot both apple ipod OS AND linux.... it's quite handy) |

hmmmm, i don't think wolfenstein has been ported to an iPod linux version. I think they have total conversion wolfenstein wads for doom though. Any doom wad works with iDoom.
They also have iBoy.. a gameboy emulator for the iPod...
Oh yeah, and iPodLinux comes with a fractal generator... 1337ness |

Windows ME? I thought we exterminated all the dumbasses back in '02.
Shit.
jk Maz - the best thing for you is an upgrade to 2k or XP, and I'm happy to help you out with that. Lemme know - vandyl@gmail.com |

I was not expecting that many replies in that amount of time. Again, thanks a lot. |

That Windows ME thing (kurtmax_0) was a pretty interesting idea, but I've yet to get it to work. I thought I heard something about running it off a Univ. comp? Is that even within the limits of the rules of usage of the computers? |

Well, even if it's against the rules I doubt the IT department would know. It's Alabama you know... |
