Maybe you've played something in the total war series (Rome, Shogun, Medieval) and though, "what a shame I can't play the overall tactical level against a live opponent... a grand-scope war"...?
Well, maybe you haven't, but everyone else has wished for this.
It looks like Realms is the answer! (final answer pending)
You have a large map of England or somesuch, and your units move around in real time (although very slowly). If they get in battles, you can jump in and commandeer the forces yourself, or let them automatically resolve. However, While you are commanding the outside map is still moving!!! So you can have multiple battles going on at the same time. You can jump in and out of a battle, switch battles, etc. Anyhow, I think it would make a great MP game, and, (unsual for me to think so) would probably even make a good game for 3+ players as well.
Anyhow, I haven't played past the tutorial, and haven't played MP yet, so I'll revise this review as I play it more.... who want a match?

query, is it better than Lords 2? Lords 2 was amazingly well rounded and alot of fun, except when you couldnt get enough stone! |

I've had the game for quite some time now, and attempted to play it several times. Unfortunately, it has yet to really grab my attention. The Multiplayer was difficult to learn and slow to play, the single player is unintuitive, and just, overall, not as exciting as the idea.
Anyhow, I don't see it ever winning any hearts at a gamer's meeting, either.

I was wrong, while it does have many positive points, it is still a subpar game. Lords 2 is better and still less than $10 in jewel case form. |

I'll give it a look-look.
For the record, I am in no way hooked to fantasy, I place it slightly higher than big-game hunting games. (I think Lords was a archers-barbarians game)
Funny, I'm playing (or will be starting a new game of, rather) Supreme Ruler 2010 this weekend. i don't think that's what you're talking about.
I'll check out Supreme Commander, I've seen mention of it around.

I played Lords II last week when I was trying out GameTap.
Ahh, the memories. |

Ahh gametap, so many bad downloads and cutoffs in the beta...is it any better now? Though I do believe I own most every game they have on there. |

It's decent. Lots of 5+ year old PC games and bunches of Sega games. I've got too many games to play though now as it is though.
Oh and if you want to give the 2 week trial a try, keep in mind you'll most likely have to wait 30 mins on hold and answer a bunch of questions when you try to cancel it. (They make you call) |
