What do yall believe to be the ultimate LAN games? Genre is not terribly important.

What I am doing is that thanks to work I have access to thinstall and can in theory create thin installs of multiplayer games. And in the future hope to have a collection of them as the games become abandon or free, so far the list is very small but it will grow. Ofcourse some other games that dont require keys may make their way there... The goal is to eventually have a DVD or set of DVDs to have available at LANs so everyone can play games quickly without installing them, because lets face it Open Arena last year was a disaster.

Half Life. I know, Steam's got it, but seriously...Half Life.

...honestly, you know most of my suggestions. You better put some bomberman on there though.

Actually I talked to Fast on the phone. We brought up AvP Gold, AvP2, Scorched Earth, Bomberman, Carmageddon, Half Life, Call of duty, Battlefield Desert Combat, UT '99, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Worms, Age of Empires, Dune, TFC, Counterstrike, Ricochet, Wanted, Tribes, TA, the MechWarriors...heck, just about everything we mentioned. Also I brought up networked Doom, Heretic, System Shock 2, and Hexen.

Also, did Duke Nukem 3D have multiplayer on the PC? The console versions did...

What are some other good multiplayer games we've forgotten about?

So I gave it a run on a couple games:
Tribes 2 - fine
Savage - fine
Open Arena - fine
AvP Gold - fine
GTA2 - network error
UT99 - graphics error

But I think I have figured out the problems with GTA and UT. Also Serious Sam 1 works fine with a no cd patch. HalfLife decided to be painful, Ill figure that one out once I get some more time.

I will try to make versions of all the games suggested that I own, but I will only be able to do what I have time for. Half Life Multiplayer and Total Annihilation are top priority.

System Shock 2 is actually freeware with texture updates and four player coop - my goal for this Tigerlan is to beat it with three other people.

For the record, System Shock 2 does not work with Geforce 8000+ or ATI 3000+ cards. It will try to load but it ultimately fails. So my idea of playing through it at Tigerlan may not happen.

Big Red Racing - BTW the club is the official owners of this software. The creators gave it to Stick and X way back when. AU Gamers even were the official BRR website for a time.

SS2 worked on my 8800.

I used a compatibility update thingy for the Thief engine to do it though.

Battlefield (especially vietnam!)

Bad Company 2 has some heavy sys reqs, but it's loads of fun.

GIANTS! (Just consider this a +1 to that game)
Warcraft 3, Star Craft (I know, but they really are great for lans)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: World At War (the night of the living dead mp mode is awesome wave defense)

Left 4 Dead, L4D2

Vietnam was fun because you could play vs bots, and blast them with CCR "Fortunate Son" while you flew the helos.

I don't really care for WC3 or SC. I'd much rather play any of the Dawn of War games.

DOWII!
