Ok so xen sold me on this yesterday with a handful of phrases:
FPS/RPG
4 player drop in/drop out coop
Lots of Weapons
Gearbox
For those of you that don’t know what it is, it is a FPS/RPG, so yes damage is shown numerically, with random world generation software. They also have somesort of random weapon creation where they can boast over 30 million weapons (base weapon + modifiers – like an ice shotgun that has bouncing shots). It is geared more toward FPS fans than RPG fans - meaning it is still partially twitch based.
To me, it is looking to be what Left 4 Dead was trying to be: an awesome coop experience that you can play with others for years.
Im grabbing the PC version on the 26th and will probably have the next day off of work (gotta waste vacation days before they go away). Whose with me? |

I'm gonna wait and see how it turns out.
And Left 4 Dead isn't a coop experience. It's a griefing simulator. |

Only cause you can't kill that damn annoying white chick.
Anyway, I are lazy and Sloth, from the Gooneys. Post a link so that I may marvel with my one good eye at this game.
Also, what ever happened to Kurt making videos? Cross-thread bitch slap! Oh snapz! |

So... does this mean that we might get a gun that shoots scissors that will return like a boomerang? |

Well now that CoD6 has been royally screwed for PC, I might be able to divert funds for this game. I'm still gonna wait and see how it fares though.
@Goji: My computer died last week. Waiting for new parts in the mail. I'll have to test out the i7 with video processing |

@Kurt: Pff... It wouldn't have died if it had an FX5200. |

The GeForce 8800 is still alive and well. It's the mainboard/CPU that's crapped out. The CPU has survived longer than I thought since I've been overclocking it at 2x speed on air for 2 years... |

Looks like you might want to wait for a patch. Just a few comments I've found on PC version:
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/10 ... rderlands/
Quote:
John: I must have my rant about the interface. For a game that boasts it understands that PC players use the mouse, and that it’s PC first, something went wrong. The game opens with “PRESS ENTER”. Mmm hmm? Then there’s so much that’s insane. You can only invite people with “i”, and you can only get out of the invite screen by pressing “ESC to cancel”. Comparing weapons can be started with the mouse, but only exited with the keyboard. And here 360 control icons appear in the inventory. You can’t click on the keyboard shortcuts to activate them. You cannot scroll through quest text when being given it without using Page Up and Page Down, despite there being a triangle button for the mouse… It’s not good.
Quote:
Jim: The issue with voice chat is that it doesn’t dip volume when someone is speaking, and there’s no push-to-talk option. That has to be patched, asap. [It can't currently be turned off in the menu, and we're chasing Gearbox about that now - RPS.]
That voice-activated talk is going to make the game unplayable. |

It kinda sounds like ol' Heretic: Look around with the keyboard, baby! |

First off, as much as I like the talking between people review, bullet points at the beginning would make me actually read the site.
That out of the way. Most of what was said in it were minor complaints. Hitting escape to leave the invite screen is not an issue. Now not clicking keyboard shortcuts will get old, but that’s also doable. However, the auto talk is an issue. That is just stupid, kinda like the use of Securom.
Streetdate was broken in many countries yesterday (Germany leading the charge), so hopefully Gearbox will push to have the Securom activate sometime before the weekend. If not well its been an awkward start for them already… I mean comeon, if it was developed on the PC for the PC, why is the PC version delayed a week?
Im getting a copy as soon as it becomes available, patch or not. But they have already patched the PS3 version so they should be on top of things with these corrections. |

They aren't releasing it early. Gearbox said it was out of their control (I don't have a link sorry...).
I'm going to wait on this one. See how it plays out. |

Im digging my revolver that crits at 1800 on my level enemies, and I crit on something like 17% of my shots. Granted xens bezerker rage where he causes random explosions is very envy causing...
Ill give you one guess what my id is.
Alot of the guns have the "Holy Crap" line.
And Goji, xen and I have put in almost 17 hours and acccording to the reports Ive seen, we have scene about 5-7% of the map. |

fastbilly?
Yeah my fists cause explosions atm. And this game works on goji's computer? I thought it required SM3.
The best fight I've had so far is skagzilla. That was fun. Had 3 other people too so it had a ton of hp (and one was afk.. no way to kick ). Got thrown around the arena for 10 minutes... |

Nah, he was talking to me, not about me. But, the game does sound fun. Maybe I can afford it in 3 years. |
