Stick Memorial Competition
Scorched Earth
Atomic Bomberman
Carmeggedon
Minesweeper
Vote and discuss [rules et al.] these here. Polls will be open until Ack says otherwise.
[Editor Note:] We should come up with some catchy name for this competition. Also, I added Minesweeper to the list, can be just as easily removed.
Alas, this will never again be updated...

Bomberman is 10 player. Best case scenario, I should be able to accommodate that with arcade stick layouts on one pc. Granted they will be 8 way sticks, not 4 way, and different button layouts per.
Worst case: PS2 and SNES controllers with arcade sticks. |

Atomic Bomberman is what I believe to be the obvious choice here, as we still play it in club on a frequent basis. Also, it's my favorite game out of the ones listed, so yeah.
I'm biased as hell. |

I was incorrect in my original thought, as of right now Atomic Bomberman only supports 2 people per pc. I will be working on it to expand the amount. Granted Scorched Earth can play what 8 people per box?
Thats it, face I challenge you to Kanjai Combat. |

I believe the man himself gave us ideas a long time ago and we didnt listen:
http://www.augamers.org/index.php?name= ... &p=669
Team Bomberman?
Another note, every search I made for Atomic Bomberman patches, updates, and mods, ended up with atleast one link to yall.
And I was wrong, its only two per Keyboard, with another 10 possible to be pluged in through the "Joy" connectors...I should have thought it through alittle more.
So that means I can run 7 right now, 8 counting a flight stick, 9 if I can get my serial port working again, and it will recognize it... |

play a round of each of the top 2 (bomberman and scorched earth) and combine the scores to determine the winner. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be minesweeper. |

Sounds fantastic to me. Should we donate entry fees for this tournament to something? |

No, because people aren't paying extra to enter this tournament...though we could give some of our earnings to charity, something like Child's Play. |

I think it should be teams for both, teams as stick described for KOTN sometime ago. One person is eyes the other is blindfolded and does all the work. I think it would be interesting. |

Byron, Coyote, Kurt, all others who have abilities I do not posses.
I have a suggestion. If possible, mod Atomic Bomberman so that we can enable bigger stages and more than 10 people. I know it is alot of work, thats why I say this now - 5-6 months to go. There is already a map editor built into the game (hold ctrl and hit E six times on the main screen), but if we could enable up to 20 players, with 4x sized map - well it would not only be the best bomberman, but an amazing tribute to an amazing man. |

How would we mod the game. Is the source available? I suppose we could work on an open source version of bomberman.... |

you should know better than to ask that, I expect you to reverse engineer it. But I will look around for one, if not an opensource bomberman would work to.

Wouldn't take very long really, just grab an open source 2d dx or ogl tile based engine and rip the art from the game files and code up the animations and levels. 3-4 weeks?
Network play and sync would be the hardest part. |

Network play not needed, joypad support is - since I can provide up to 10 right now, and should be able to support even more next year. Not counting Lias's adaptors. |
